i’m making this post for everyone who hates Real Player.
for years i’ve been going on without needing to install Real Player, but for some unknown reason, someone decided to upload .rmvb content on mininova.org
without much choice, i unwillingly downloaded and installed Real Player to see some pretty horrifying changes; it’s bloat city comparable to Vuze and Vista. i soon uninstalled the software and went on to convert the files into avi format, but my conversion software required that Real Media codecs be installed in order to work with RM files. upon visiting the converter program’s site, i found something called RealMedia alternative, which only installs the codecs necessary to watch RM files. meaning that you can play the soon-to-be-dead file types on any player.

the executable also gives the option to install Windows Media Player Classic, the best media player around.
