In the past two weeks I have sold the same god damned Nikon D70s + lens kit twice. The first time was to a guy who had been asking me about the camera for weeks before. He eventually decided to buy it, and so we made the trade off. The next day he tells me he’d like to reconsider, and me being the nice guy I am, agree to give him back his money. At this point I figure I’m OK since there are a few other potential buyers, but it’s still a setback seeing as I had plans to use that money.

So then I sell the camera to another friend. She’s excited about buying the camera and tells me she’ll give me the money next week. Great! This means I’ll get to buy the D90 next week. I’m happy with the deal, so I let her take the camera that night. Then the next day, she brings the camera back and says that she wants to think about it.

FUCK.

I’m agitated because I am having to push back my plans for the second time in a period of three days. But I’m a friend, so I deal with it and unwillingly take the camera back. Now I’m thinking that the Japanese aren’t aware of verbal agreements or person-to-person deals and dealings. If I’ve ever bought or sold something to friends in the States, the makings are always final. Maybe I’ve been lucky, but I’m definitely stupid for trying to sell this high priced item to friends.
